Each year, on 23 April, is celebrated World Book Day to celebrate and promote the enjoyment of books and reading. So, we considered a great opportunity to promote Basque literature by doing a list of our personal recommendations

Obabakoak is a short story collection written by Bernardo Atxaga in 1988 and considered one of the classics of Basque literature.

 

In his stories, Atxaga masterfully weaves together all the exciting stories of the habitants of Obaba, imagining a magical world.

 

Toti Martínez de Lezea published this book in 2019. Its a beautiful fictional story situated in a dark situation that lasted more than a century, were it tells the stories of those who in the beginning of the 16th century, in Navarre, were burned, hanged, exiled, or imprisoned based on false reports of witchcraft.

 

Its a novel written by Karmele Jaio and published in 2019. On it, it talks about the ways to build and transmit masculinity and, in general, the enormous influence of gender on the lives of women and men, and also the significant silences that occur in families.

 

Those who like black novels will love this smart and exciting police story of Gotzon Garate. 

In the peaceful and beautiful town of Goizueta, Lorentzo, the local chieftain, is killed, and many people will be considered suspicions. As detective Jon Bidart begins to investigate, he will soon discover that everyone had reasons to murder him as well as the chance to do so.

 

This last book is a children's novel written by Miren Agur Meabe and is a historical and fictional book about the Spanish civil war of 1936. 

It tells the story of Jon, a young boy from Bilbao who, at the beginning of the war, his parents sent him to Lekeitio to live with his uncle who is the  lighthouse keeper.

 

 

Apirilaren 23an liburuaren nazioarteko eguna ospatu zen, eta ekitaldi hau aukera paregabea iruditzen zaigu euskal literaturaren alde egiteko. Horregatik, gure gomendio pertsonalak aurkeztuko dizkizuegu

Bernardo Atxagak,1988.urtean argitaratuko liburu hau euskal literaturaren klasikoetakok bat bezala kontsideratzen da, eta gure zerrendan nahita nahiez egon behar zuen.

Atxagak maisuki hilatzen ditu Obabako biztanleen istorio zirraragarriak, eta pertsonaiek kontatzen dizkigutenak, zeintzuen bidez, hitzaren boterea ospatzen saiatzen da.

2. Sorgin Belarra

2019. urtean argitaratu zuen Toti Martinez de Lezeak liburua, non XVI. mendearen hasieratik Nafarroan sorginkeria salaketa faltsuetan oinarrituta, erre, urkatu, erbesteratu edo espetxeratu zituztenen historiak kontatzen ditu.

Mende bat baino gehiago iraun zuen egoera ilun hartan kokatutako fikziozko kontakizun eder bat da hau.

3. Aitaren Etxea

Karmele Jaio idazleak 2019an plazaraturiko eleberria da. Maskulinitatea eraikitzeko eta transmititzeko moduez eta orokorrean generoak emakume eta gizonen bizitzetan duen eragin itzelaz, eta  familietan sortzen diren isiltasun esanguratsuez.

 4. Goizuetako Ezkongaiak

Nobela beltzak gustuko dituzuenek, Gotzon Garateren polizia istorio abil eta kilikagarria gustuko izango duzue. 

Goizueta herri lasai eta politean Lorentzo hil dute, bertako jauntxoa, eta jende ugari geratuko da susmoen sare handian kateatuta. Jon Bidart detektibea ikertzen hasi ahala, azkar jabetuko da denek zituztela herriko aberatsa hiltzeko arrazoi sendoak, baita hori egiteko aukera egokia ere. 

 5. Urtebete Itsasargian

Miren Agur Meabek idatzitako gaztetxoentzako eleberri bat da eta 1936ko gerrari buruzko liburu historiko nahiz fikziozkoa da nobela eder hau.

Urtebete itsasargian gaztetxo baten historia kontatzen du. Jon gaztetxo bilbotar bat da, gerra hastean gurasoek Garraitzetara bidaltzen dutena, osaba farozainarengana.
